Sattahip fish raising project
Some background information for those going on the trip on Tuesday 9 March:
Mr. Crouch sent the following information in an email to teachers - The project provides the families with three basic concrete tanks, 500 fish and enough fish food for one month. The idea being that the family can farm the fish and then sell them to generate a sustainable income and purchase more fish and fish food to continue the process. Some of the families choose to sell the fish to the local market others may grill them themselves and sell them, etc... It is up to them.
The total cost to start this self-help project is 4,000 Baht per project and the Women with a Mission have identified (with the support of the Sattihip authorities) 6 more families.
Both Women with a Mission and the Sattahip Authority agree that it would be great for a school class, group, activity, family or even individual to sponsor one of these projects / families for 4,000 Baht.
If you would like to see some photos and get some information about the group called 'Women With a Mission' you can go to their website www.wwm.org There is a tab at the top of the page to a Photos page and if you go there you will see the link to the 'CHP Fish Raising Project, Sattahip' photo.
Since Gold Fish plc has not yet raised its start-up capital I will lend the business the 4,400baht as Mr. Crouch has asked that each group going on Tuesday (a Year 6 class is going, a Year 7 class is going .... and a few other people) brings the money to present to the family that they have been allocated. So that's what we shall do - I'll lend the money to the business and be repaid once you have raised the share capital and organised an event at school that has resulted in some more funds.
